Little Brown Sparrow

Original textile art of a little brown sparrow set in an embroidery hoop, ready to be hung up or propped on a shelf or windowsill. I love these noisy little birds who chatter away to each other in the tree in our garden, until, ‘shhh someone's coming’ and they stop, altogether, perfectly in time! Did you know that they symbolise hope, happiness, adaptability and new beginnings?

This little chap has been created using tiny pieces of scrap fabric and paper that were collaged and hand stitched together. The backing is also a collage using vintage fabrics, again hand stitched together. Finally, I added little needle pointed flowers that I salvaged from a vintage French tapestry.

This is the first in a collection I plan to make of British garden birds, flowers and little creatures that take my fancy. Do you have a favourite? Do let me know if you have?
