The Mistle Thrush

Ahh the elusive Mistle Thrush, aren't they beautiful? This piece was inspired by the Mistle Thrush that used to visit us in our garden in France. I say 'used to visit us' she actually visited the old apple tree that got completely covered in mistletoe. After gorging herself on the white berries and wiping her beak on a handy branch, she would sit right at the top, like a sentry, surveying 'her' garden and guarding 'her' tree from any other opportune birds! This was the pose I tried to capture here!
Small scraps of fabric were handstitched together on the backing fabric of vintage french linen.
Mounted on a piece of cartridge paper, its ready to be popped into a frame of your choice.
